Its about a husband and wife whose marriage is going down the drain and neither of them seems to be listening to each other...the guy, a firefighter, gets some advice from his dad about starting a 40 day journey to get his wife back...called the Love Dare! I won't say any thing more except, that you need to read it.
And soon the Love Dare is coming out...the 40 day bible study of sorts for men and woman do to...I'll have to get that when it come out, it doesn't matter where your marriage is, whether it is going down the drain or almost perfect, it always needs work...

That reminds me...In yesterdays sermon Pastor took a question that Jesus asked of his disciples "Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16: 13-20) and said we should ask it of ourselves and others...so here goes -- To me Jesus is an Artist, a Friend and part of my Family. An artist because He has molded me and painted the picture for my life...a friend because He is there when I need Him, even if I don't know that I need Him...and a part of the family because He is my Father, never giving in but always providing for us when we need Him...anyway...
Who is He to you?

Ride Alongs

This past Saturday I had a ride-along for 12 long slow hours...I say that like it was a bad thing even though it wasn't too bad...I usually don't mind ride-alongs but I thought I knew this guy and wasn't happy...
I got there in the morning and there he was, I thought he had already been there all night riding. His name is Dave -- mid 50's, bachelor, head of his neighborhood watch and part of the CERT team for the Estates and he rides with us a couple of times a year. I really didn't want him or anyone in my car but the other Eric bolted out the door once he found out Dave was a RA and Pat didn't think she been around long enough to do it, so , there I was...
Things progressed slowly, no calls all morning...one traffic stop and then heading out to Ave for lunch...nothing going on after lunch either, although by now Dave and I are talking and I start talking about how I like to watch COPS with my kids so they can see what happens when you make the wrong choices when he blurts out that being in my car was like an episode of COPS for him! I looked at him like he was crazy and mentioned that this would be the worst COPS episode ever since we were so slow but he said it didn't matter...he felt like the camera guy, slipping into our world, catching a glimpse of what we dealt with on a day to day basis.
I started to think about what he said and realized that while I tell my stories about some of the stuff that goes on, there are somethings that just should stay with me...accidents, case outcomes, kids in really bad situations and much more...
Anyway, we did end up going to a call, a possible violation of an injunction, but no one went to jail and the guy was not in violation...just several adults acting like children...have seen it way too much...And if you ever want a ride along, let me know...

TS Fay

So, the original plan was for my shift to come in to work after TS Fay passed by us...unfortunately, at 0515 this morning I got the call to come into work...alright, so I was already up, watching the news, listening to the storm outside, wondering why I was going to venture out into the storm, right as it was starting...The first time I opened the door to go out to my car, I saw several branches fly by--I closed and locked the door to wait a little while longer.
15 mins later, I head out to our temp office at the HS in the library and sit...I could have done that at home!
We did almost nothing most of the day except drive around and look for obstacles in the road...I did find 2 teens (boy and girl)playing in the swale on 47th...they got out after I told them that peoples septic tanks sometimes flood during storms and go into the swales! Don't know if that's true or not but it was funny to watch them scramble out of the water!
We ate really well -- Dawn made fried egg sandwiches for breakfast and Homemade Mac and Cheese for lunch, which everybody loved. My mom made Texas sheet cake and they loved that too. Grady's wife made great chili...We spread the food around throughout the afternoon...

Anyway, there was nothing funny or exciting...I started this blog thinking I had something interesting to write but nothing yet! I might have to start making stuff up...

16 Years

Time flys when you're having fun and don't know what you're doing!
